Insurance FAQ's
Insurance - Comprehensive Vehicle Insurance (CVI)
Your Comprehensive Vehicle Insurance coverage helps with either replacing or repairing your vehicle if it's stolen or damaged (subject to the limits, terms, and conditions as set out in your policy document) and being conditional upon paid premium instalments being up-to-date. If your car accidentally damages another vehicle or property, coverage is up to NZD 1,000,000 if you’re legally liable for the cost of repairs.
When your vehicle is written-off, and the value of the vehicle is paid, your policy has done its job in protecting you financially. The policy then expires, as there is no longer a vehicle to insure. Pro-rata premium refunds are not given for the period of the policy that hasn't expired, as the policy is responding to a total-loss situation. If you paid by instalments, then Quest Insurance will adjust your claim pay-out for any instalment premiums that would be outstanding through to the natural expiry of the policy.
Yes, if you prefer, your annual premium can be split into instalments, payable either monthly, fortnightly or weekly via direct debit.
Cover will apply if the vehicle is being used as an Uber or Taxi, if you have chosen the Uber/Taxi cover option at the start date of the policy.
For safety reasons, we strongly recommend customers drive the car with insurance. Please contact our local insurance consultant, and we will provide professional insurance advice for your vehicle.

Your insurance policy is a strictly ‘Named-Driver-Only" policy. Unless you have named another party/s on the policy prior to any accident, there is no cover.

Insurance - Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI)
Modern motor vehicles are becoming more and more complex every day, and with these complexities come more and more repair costs in the event of a failure.
Unlike your normal comprehensive insurance that covers you for theft or accident damage, Mechanical Breakdown Insurance protects you from these unexpected costs of sudden and unforeseen mechanical or electrical breakdowns.
Mechanical Breakdown Insurance also provides you with extra peace-of-mind with roadside assistance, vehicle recovery, accommodation allowances for out-of-town breakdowns, and rental car facilities under certain circumstances.
You are covered for the reasonable costs of repairing or replacing the actual broken mechanical or electrical component/s, due to the sudden and unforeseen through normal use; along with added benefits such as roadside assistance, vehicle recovery, accommodation allowances for out-of-town breakdowns, and rental car facilities under certain circumstances.
You will need to advise Quest Insurance in writing within 14 days, from the date of purchase, and we will refund any premiums you have paid to us provided you have not made a claim under the policy.
Yes, regular servicing can help to identify potential problems before they become real ones, and provides peace-of-mind that your vehicle is in a safe and road-worthy condition.
Regular servicing can also save you money at the petrol pump. New oil and air filters make for a smoother running engine, and a more fuel-efficient car. Addressing issues such as under-inflated tyres will reduce rolling resistance, improve fuel economy, and extend tyre life.
Furthermore, not servicing your car increases your chances of suffering the inconvenience of a breakdown resulting in reliance on hire cars or public transport whilst your vehicle is being fixed.
Regularly servicing your car will also undoubtedly improve the life span of the vehicle, and helps maintain the value of your asset for years to come.
All vehicles must be serviced by an AA approved or MTA Registered workshop every 10,000 kilometres, or in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications, or every 12-months, whichever occurs first. You will find your minimum service requirements in your Quest Insurance policy booklet.
MTA is an organization that most mechanical repairers belong to. They stand by the work they do, and the repairs they carry out. They are throughout New Zealand. Always check that the repairer you choose is an MTA workshop. https://www.mta.org.nz/
No. The servicing must be done by an approved independent service agent as copies of the service invoices will be required in the event of a claim.
If your vehicle has a mechanical or electrical issue you believe may entitle you to make a claim under your policy, and the vehicle can be driven without causing further damage, you should take it to your nearest approved repairer.
You should hand your insurance policy booklet to the approved repairer and ask the service manager to contact Quest Insurance for permission to proceed with diagnostics.
Some dismantling may be required to diagnose the issue which you will need to authorise, until such time as a claim is accepted and approved by Quest Insurance, whereby Quest Insurance will then cover the diagnostic costs.
Please note, Quest Insurance cannot pay for any work performed on your vehicle without your prior approval.
If the vehicle cannot be driven safely, contact the Quest Roadside Service Team who are available 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. The team will dispatch assistance in an attempt to diagnose and repair the breakdown roadside, or if necessary, arrange a tow to the nearest approved service facility.
